Susan Brown
Co-opted Governor
Chair of Governors

I have been a Governor since September 2007 but my involvement with the school dates from the late Eighties when my daughter started in reception.  My son was in the next school year and soon I found myself working there too.  I started as an Early Years Assistant followed by a stint working with Years 1 and 2 as a Teaching Assistant and then Special Needs Assistant – a total of 12 happy years.  I left to work for the Probation Service for ten years and then retired early to help family when grandchildren started arriving.

I was originally asked to become a Community Governor through a connection with the local Anglican church which I was attending at the time.  Despite having worked in the school for so long I had a sketchy idea of what it meant to be a Governor but I’ve found it very interesting and rewarding in lots of different ways.

At the moment I’m the Chair for the second time.  Things are always changing in the education world and what better place for me to keep learning and in touch with developments than at Southsea Infants!
