Your Child’s Learning Week Year 1

Welcome to Year 1

Week Beginning 29.10.18


This week your child will be learning about:        


Literacy

We will be doing some reading and phonics tasks


Mathematics

We will be working on adding 1, and finding 1 more than a number to 10/20.


Phonics

We will be working on phase 2. We will be learning the following sounds l, ll, and ss and learning the following high frequency words, no, go, his, him. As well as revising the sounds s, a, t, p, i, n, m, d, g, o, c, k, ck, e, u, r and words is, it, in, an, I, and, on, not, into, can, no, go, to, get, got, the, back, put.


 Running alongside these lessons the children will be involved in ‘child initiated sessions’ – this involves investigating, exploring and consolidating the work previously learnt in lessons. We will be providing activities to support our topic of ‘All About Me’.


P.E:

On a Tuesday children will have REAL PE, where we will be developing our core strength with a focus on static balances

On Wednesday children will be taught by our PE coach.

Fine Motor Skills

Children will be exposed to a variety of activities such as; cutting skills, play-dough and pencil control activities.

Reminder

School closes on Friday 19th October for half term and reopens Tuesday 30th at 8.45am. Monday 29th is an inset day and school is closed to children.


Milk

If your child does not currently receive milk and would like to do so then please register them on the Cool Milk website; www.coolmilk.com


Spare Clothes

We are running very low on spare clothes, especially underwear. If your child has borrowed any clothes please ensure they are returned to school, or if you have any spare underwear at home that you are willing to donate then please send it in with your child.
